Yes, it was "my house" for a brief moment in time, too! I have memories and pictures outside my soul to prove it!

Such an eternally beautiful place.

And in the spirit of accidentally wearing one's bathing suit top upside down while there, I bid you goodbye with "Too Hot Brazil"! (For you, Ms. Vickery.)

HEH!

Hi Rachel:

Thanks so much for writing. I'm glad you have good memories of the house. It was "home" to many families during the years we owned it.

Do look for us on Tongue Mountain. We've been working on it for the past two years (still more to go) to get it ready for summer.

All the best to you and nice to meet you!

Hi Vickery, I happened upon your story here while Googling Nirvana Farms. I love the way you've described it. I have such fond memories of your family's home as friends of my family (who I would gather you likely know) rented it for many summers when I was a child (25+ years ago). We'd often play flashlight tag, have wonderful family get-togethers full of food and song, swimming and sailing off the dock. It's such a beautiful property. At the time, my family rented a cottage up the road at High Point (now we're - or they: my parents - just north of that on Braley Point).

I wish I was able to visit the day you were having your sale so I too could relive some of those old memories. I know how hard it must've been for you to say good bye.

Enjoy your home on Tongue Mountain. If I happen to see you while we boat on by, I'll wave!

Princess WOW!- I can totally relate and was a Modern Day Spinster for a decades until God bestowed upon me my dear Prince POW WOW! Yes, this world is upside down in its values, and more prudency in the romance dept would be most helpful instead of everyone showing all they got, and sensuality is everywhere and the norm. Morals are at an all time low, and dishonesty is considered acceptable. Good manners are scarce and this must change. Good role models are much needed! Thanks to you I have Princess on the front of my name instead of Miss. You on to something here..

Hello Vickery...

I just finished reading your Spinsters' Story...I did not know that it would end in the sale of a house...I was expecting to hear more on your plight as a spinster...lol?...

anyways, except for the spells and incantations at the end and the use of the word Nirvana, which I detest, it was an enjoyable read.

I am 58, and never married...had a son in my earlier years, who abandoned me when he turned 15...I haven't seen for over over 20 years...

I long for the day that I say " I DO"...one must never give up if that is one's heart's desire.
Many do not persist in prayer...one must be like the importunate widow with the unjust judge...God will get so tired of hearing it, He will meet the request...

As I am a Christian...one that believes that Jesus Christ is God and the only way to Heaven...and does believe that there is a Hell...I know that I must marry a man who loves the Lord as I do.

The waiting is the hardest part...as the song goes...

I have more I would like to share with you, but, will have to, by email, and you will want to hear this story...I wish I could share it with everyone here...but, I can't...so, please email me, Vickery, and I will send you the short story...

Hi Sam:

Wow! A Brooklyn Paint & Varnish alum. That's special. Do you know I still have some stationery left from the factory? And some old burls that were used as test panels. Perhaps you remember those?

In any event, thanks for writing. I will ask around about Jack Magee and will get back to you. And love your recollection of "Beauty By The Brushful!" How funny to be reminded.

I worked at BP&V in 1949 and 1950 when the Andersons (Dean & Dean Jr) and Paul Eckhoff were there. my father, Harry Bader, was a salesman there for many years in the '40s and 50's. For years I have wondered what ever happened to the family and especially to my friend, Jack Magee. Those were the years of Beautiful by the Brushful. What an awful name. Can you tell me what happened to Jack Magee and if he is still alive .
